The New Van

Well – How’s it going my little Cherubs?

I thought I would give you a quickie !! – Just to see how you are and because you had to wait so long last time for an update about – ME !

Things have been fairly quiet really although we have been away on our holidays to try out the new van …. Oh sorry ! ….. MOTORHOME – We all went up to Exeter to the Devon County Show, and you have to pass Martins where they flog them on the way. In the van …. sorry, MOTORHOME, Maureen said it would be a good idea to have a double socket to plug in the kettle and her hairdryer at the same time !! – So they stopped at Martins to see if they could get a plug in the accessories shop …… an hour later, they come out with a new bus ……. yes, it is close to a bus because it is 24 feet long ….. should be a laugh seeing fat boy trying to steer that around the country lanes !

It is really comfy inside though, I must admit and me and Rhea have made ourselves right at home

Mind you, if there was a competition for making your self at home, she would be the Captain of the team …….

Now, we ended up around the Cheddar area and pitched up at some site in the middle of nowhere ….. peace and quiet – Just what I need …. until the bloody cockerel started … no wonder chicken is so popular …. I would have quite happily stuffed a load of sage and onion up his rear and locked him in the oven !!

We set up camp and while Re and me sang Ging Gang Gooly, Gooly, Gooly Watcha, Sitting Bull and Hiawatha got all the stuff sorted out. The main job is to erect the special, ultra strong dog proof windbreak to keep us two in, as that is ‘The Rules’ on sites, dogs must be kept on a lead at all times ….

Now, right opposite the site was a huge field, and once we had sotrted stuff out, me and Rhea had a brill time in there legging it round and round and of course eating the Hors d'œuvres of sheep’s crap !! – Anyway, next day, this woman came down the field looking like she was really on a mission with a face which could have sunk a ship ….. “Have you got a brownie Dobermann thing in there” … Chris says, “Yes, she is here inside the windbreak” (special, ultra strong dog proof) at which point, he casts his eye to the south ….. no she ain’t, it was as empty as a synagogue when they are dishing out bacon sarnies ….. “I have seen it running up the road” – Why did she ask if we had got a Dobermann thing in there, if she had seen it running up the road ….. and the face on it …… she looked like she has sucked a whole bag of lemons, talk about sour - you would have thought they were being accused of war crimes instead of Rhea doing her Houdini thing – Well, it is against the Camping and Caravanning Clubs rules to be off the lead!! She had managed to somehow open the gate and do a runner …… this is where the panic set it, and Chris, dressed in his wellies, ran (well broke into a wobbly trot) to try and find her. Being a bit of a budding Hercule Poirot he went straight into the sheep dung field, and there she was,  eating desert !!!! ……. When we were packing up to come home, I took a leaf out of Rhea’s book, and waiting for exactly the right time, Chris came into the van with the poles from the windbreak and I went out and legged it around the campsite, hoping to catch the attention of the Fraulein (Mrs Adolf) to try and drop him in it !!

Now, I will leave you with one lasting image of the Camping and Caravanning Club and although the sites are brilliant (apart from the “rules for dogs”) some people do go that little bit extra to make their area just a bit more special than everyone else's ……..

Yes – somebody had ……. A HANGING BASKET OF PANSIES ON THE AWNING !!!!

Take Care
