Cody is 11 weeks old today and of course, because he has had all his injections he can now go out for a walk, meet other dogs and go to training classes. We were a bit disappointed yesterday because the lady who was going to come to see about training telephoned and said she could not come as her dog is very ill, and she had to be at the Vets to discuss it with him at 15:00. We have not heard anything today so after speaking to her, I should think she may well have had some really sad news about her 8 year old German Shepherd - We hope not - She will ring when she can. We feel very sad for her as to have one of your best friends ill is a terrible thing.
Maureen and I wondered where the best place to take Cody out for his first walk so that he could meet people, other dogs and to get him used to noises and things. We decided to go to Bideford Park and on the Quay. It was absolutely packed down there as the kids are all on school holidays.
Just got out of the car
We walked right around the park and Cody was completely relaxed and unphased about all the goings on with all the kids on bikes, people playing football, pushchairs etc. He was really good. We took him along the Quay a little way and sit on one of the benches and watched the world go by for 20 minutes and he behaved like a dream.
We went into the Cafe which is actually in the park and had a drink and he made friends so easily with a Labrador called Smudge and just wanted to play but obviously, we couldn't let him off the lead. The little girl with the family took a shine to Cody and really wanted to take him home, but we wouldn't do that as we love having him with us so much. We were out for a couple of hours all together and when we got home, Cody didn't even make it to the kitchen and his bed, he walked in the door and collapsed in the hall - I lifted him up, put him on his bed and that is where he's stayed !!
